Authorship Criteria Policy
1. Policy Statement
Jurnal Bisnis dan Akuntansi (JBA), published by Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi Trisakti, is committed to ensuring transparency, fairness, accountability, and integrity in the attribution of authorship in scholarly publications.
Starting December 2026 publication, authorship must accurately reflect the intellectual contributions of individuals involved in the research and preparation of the manuscript. All individuals listed as authors are expected to take responsibility for their contributions and support the integrity of the published work.
JBA follows the principles of responsible authorship and considers relevant recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other recognized scholarly publishing standards.
2. Authorship Criteria
To qualify for authorship of a manuscript submitted to JBA, an individual must satisfy all of the following criteria:
-
Substantial Contribution: Make a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception or design of the study, the collection of data, or the analysis or interpretation of research findings.
-
Manuscript Preparation: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
-
Final Approval: Review and approve the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.
-
Accountability: Agree to be accountable for their contributions and to cooperate in ensuring that any questions concerning the accuracy, validity, or integrity of the research are appropriately addressed.
All four criteria must be fulfilled for an individual to qualify as an author.
Individuals who contribute to specific aspects of the research but do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately in the Acknowledgments section, with their contributions clearly described.
3. Author Contributions and Responsibilities
JBA encourages authors to provide a transparent description of their respective contributions to the research and manuscript.
Contributions may include conceptualization, methodology, data collection, formal analysis, investigation, writing of the original draft, critical review and editing, supervision, and other substantive intellectual activities.
All authors are responsible for ensuring that:
-
The manuscript represents original scholarly work and appropriately acknowledges the contributions of others.
-
Research data, methods, analyses, and findings are accurately reported.
-
All relevant sources are properly cited and referenced.
-
All listed authors have approved the manuscript submitted to JBA and its final version before publication.
-
The manuscript is not under consideration for publication by another journal at the same time.
-
Relevant funding sources and potential conflicts of interest are disclosed.
-
The research and manuscript comply with applicable research ethics and JBA's publication policies.
JBA does not permit guest authorship, gift authorship, ghost authorship, or other practices that misrepresent the actual contributions of individuals involved in the research.
4. Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the JBA Editorial Office throughout manuscript submission, peer review, publication, and post-publication communication.
The corresponding author is responsible for:
-
Providing complete and accurate information about all authors, including names, affiliations, and contact details.
-
Confirming that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.
-
Ensuring that all authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript.
-
Coordinating communication among co-authors and the editorial team.
-
Confirming that all authors agree with the authorship order and any proposed changes to authorship.
-
Responding to editorial inquiries and providing additional information or documentation when reasonably requested.
-
Coordinating with co-authors to address questions concerning the published article, including corrections or other post-publication matters.
The corresponding author must not submit a manuscript on behalf of other authors without their knowledge and approval.
5. Authorship Order and Changes
The order of authors should be determined through mutual agreement among all authors before manuscript submission. Authors are responsible for resolving their authorship arrangements fairly and transparently.
Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be submitted to the JBA Editorial Office with a clear justification and written confirmation from all affected authors.
The Editorial Board may request additional documentation or explanations before approving a proposed change.
Changes to authorship after publication will be considered only when justified and adequately documented. If an approved change affects the published record, JBA may issue a formal correction notice in accordance with its Correction and Retraction Policy.
The journal does not independently resolve disputes over the relative contributions of researchers when these require institutional investigation. Where appropriate, unresolved disputes may be referred to the relevant institutions for further examination.
6. Acknowledgment of Non-Author Contributors
Individuals who have contributed to a research project but do not satisfy all authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately, where their contributions warrant recognition.
Such contributions may include technical assistance, administrative support, language editing, proofreading, data collection assistance, or other forms of support that do not meet the journal's authorship requirements.
The Acknowledgments section should describe the nature of each contribution clearly and accurately.
Authors should obtain permission from individuals before naming them in the Acknowledgments section.
Funding sources, institutional support, and other relevant assistance should be disclosed in accordance with JBA's applicable editorial requirements.
7. Artificial Intelligence and Authorship
Artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including generative AI systems and large language models, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts submitted to JBA.
Authorship requires intellectual contribution, human judgment, approval of the manuscript, and accountability for the integrity of the published work. These responsibilities must be undertaken by human authors.
Authors who use generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in preparing a manuscript must disclose such use in accordance with JBA's applicable AI-use policy.
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, appropriate attribution, and integrity of all content submitted for publication, including content produced or revised with AI assistance.
AI tools must not be used to fabricate data, generate false references, misrepresent research procedures, or otherwise compromise research integrity.
Any disclosure requirements and exemptions for routine tools, such as basic spelling or grammar checking, will be governed by JBA's applicable AI-use policy.
8. Authorship Disputes and Misconduct
JBA takes allegations of authorship misconduct seriously, including inappropriate attribution of authorship, omission of eligible contributors, unauthorized changes to the author list, and disputes concerning individual contributions.
When a concern is reported, the editorial team may request explanations, supporting documentation, or written confirmation from the authors involved.
The journal will assess the information impartially and may seek advice from independent experts or refer the matter to the relevant academic or research institution when necessary.
JBA does not make assumptions about misconduct solely because an authorship dispute has been raised. Editorial action will be based on the available evidence and the circumstances of the case.
Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, appropriate actions may include suspension of the editorial process, rejection of a manuscript, correction of published authorship information, or retraction of an article where justified under the journal's relevant policies.
9. Policy Compliance
By submitting a manuscript to JBA, all authors confirm that the information provided about authorship is accurate, that the submitted manuscript has been approved by all listed authors, and that they accept responsibility for their respective contributions.
JBA reserves the right to request an authorship contribution statement, written author confirmations, or other relevant documentation when necessary to verify compliance with this policy.
Failure to comply with the authorship requirements may result in editorial action consistent with the journal's publication ethics policies.
JBA is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects scholarly contributions and that the attribution of credit and responsibility is conducted fairly, transparently, and ethically.
