Post Publication Policy
1. Policy Statement
Jurnal Bisnis dan Akuntansi (JBA) is committed to promoting transparency, academic integrity, and constructive scholarly communication throughout the publication process, including after an article has been published.
JBA recognizes that scholarly evaluation does not end with publication. Post-publication discussions provide opportunities for researchers, academics, practitioners, and readers to critically examine published findings, exchange scientific perspectives, identify potential errors, and contribute to the development of knowledge.
JBA encourages evidence-based discussions concerning published articles in accordance with the principles of responsible scholarly publishing and relevant guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
All post-publication discussions must maintain academic professionalism, scientific objectivity, intellectual honesty, and respect for authors and other contributors.
2. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion
JBA welcomes constructive academic discussions concerning articles published in the journal.
Post-publication discussions may address:
-
Research methodology, theoretical frameworks, and conceptual approaches.
-
Data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation of findings.
-
Research limitations, implications, and potential contributions to the literature.
-
Inconsistencies, errors, or methodological weaknesses that may affect the reliability of published findings.
-
Potential ethical concerns relating to research conduct or publication practices.
-
Other scholarly matters relevant to business, accounting, management, economics, and related disciplines covered by JBA.
JBA does not accept comments containing personal attacks, defamatory statements, discriminatory language, unsupported allegations, commercial promotion, or material unrelated to scholarly evaluation.
3. Submission of Post-Publication Comments
Authors, readers, researchers, reviewers, and other interested parties may submit post-publication comments, questions, or concerns to the JBA Editorial Office.
Submissions should include:
-
The title, author(s), publication year, and DOI or URL of the article concerned, where available.
-
A clear description of the issue, question, or academic concern.
-
Relevant scientific arguments, supporting evidence, references, or documentation.
-
The contributor's name, institutional affiliation, and contact information.
Comments should focus on the scholarly content of the article and present arguments in a clear, objective, evidence-based, and professional manner.
Submissions should be sent through the official editorial contact information provided on the JBA website.
4. Editorial Assessment and Moderation
The JBA Editorial Board is responsible for evaluating post-publication comments and determining whether further editorial consideration is necessary.
Upon receiving a submission, the editorial team will assess its relevance, scientific validity, supporting evidence, and compliance with the journal's publication ethics and editorial standards.
The editorial team may request additional clarification, supporting documents, or expert opinions when necessary.
Comments containing unsupported accusations, inappropriate language, irrelevant material, or violations of publication ethics may be declined.
The Editor-in-Chief retains final editorial authority regarding the handling and potential publication of formal post-publication discussions.
5. Authors' Right to Respond
JBA recognizes the right of authors to respond to substantive academic comments or concerns regarding their published work.
When a post-publication discussion raises relevant scientific questions or potential concerns about a published article, the editorial team may contact the corresponding author and invite a response.
Authors are expected to provide clear, evidence-based explanations supported by appropriate references, data, or other relevant documentation.
JBA encourages constructive dialogue between authors and readers to clarify findings, resolve misunderstandings, and improve the interpretation of published research.
All responses must maintain professional standards and comply with the journal's ethical guidelines.
6. Publication of Post-Publication Discussions
JBA may publish substantive post-publication discussions, including scholarly comments, author responses, editorial notes, or other appropriate communications, when they provide meaningful scientific contributions.
The editorial team determines the appropriate format and publication mechanism based on the nature and significance of the discussion.
Where appropriate, published discussions should clearly identify the original article and provide a direct reference or link to the relevant publication.
The journal may subject formal scholarly comments or responses to editorial assessment or independent peer review when necessary.
Publication of post-publication discussions remains subject to the approval of the Editor-in-Chief and the journal's editorial standards.
7. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions
If a post-publication discussion identifies substantial errors, inaccuracies, or potential ethical violations, JBA will evaluate the available evidence and determine the appropriate editorial action.
Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, the journal may take one or more of the following actions:
Correction: A formal correction may be issued when an error affects part of a published article but does not invalidate its principal findings or conclusions.
Expression of Concern: An editorial notice may be published when serious concerns exist regarding the reliability or integrity of an article and the available evidence is inconclusive or an investigation remains unresolved.
Retraction: An article may be retracted when substantial errors, unreliable findings, or research misconduct seriously undermine the validity or integrity of the publication.
All corrective actions will follow JBA's Correction and Retraction Policy, Publication Ethics Policy, and relevant COPE guidance.
Where applicable, the journal will maintain appropriate links between the original article and any subsequent correction, Expression of Concern, or retraction notice to preserve the transparency of the scholarly record.
8. Ethical Standards and Confidentiality
All participants in post-publication discussions must adhere to principles of academic honesty, fairness, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
Individuals submitting comments or concerns must disclose any relevant conflicts of interest that could influence their evaluation of the published work.
JBA will handle sensitive information, confidential research materials, and allegations of misconduct responsibly. The journal may protect the identity of individuals reporting ethical concerns when confidentiality is justified and consistent with applicable procedures.
The editorial team will not tolerate intimidation, harassment, retaliation, or unethical conduct against individuals who raise legitimate academic concerns in good faith.
9. Editorial Decisions and Appeals
The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board are responsible for determining the appropriate response to post-publication discussions.
Editorial decisions will consider the scientific relevance of the concerns, the quality of supporting evidence, the author's response, and the potential implications for the integrity of the published article.
Individuals who disagree with an editorial decision may submit a reasoned appeal to the JBA Editorial Office, accompanied by relevant supporting evidence.
The journal will review appeals fairly and may consult independent experts when necessary to avoid conflicts of interest and ensure an objective assessment.
10. Commitment to Scholarly Transparency
JBA regards post-publication discussion as an important component of responsible scholarly communication and continuous scientific evaluation.
Through constructive academic dialogue, transparent editorial procedures, and appropriate corrective actions, the journal seeks to strengthen the reliability, credibility, and scientific value of published research.
JBA encourages authors, researchers, practitioners, and readers to participate responsibly in post-publication discussions that contribute to advancing knowledge in business, accounting, management, economics, and related disciplines.
