AI Policy

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy and AI Disclosure Statement

E-Jurnal Manajemen TSM is pleased to announce a new policy on the responsible use of artificial intelligence. Beginning with the December 2026 issue, each published article will carry an AI Disclosure Statement.

As AI-assisted tools become more common in research, writing, peer review, and editorial work, the journal wishes to ensure that their use remains consistent with academic integrity, confidentiality, originality, and human accountability. The policy addresses three groups: authors, peer reviewers, and editors.

1. Guidelines for Authors

  • AI-assisted tools may be used in a supporting role, for example to improve language, check grammar, translate text, or format a manuscript.
  • AI must never be used to fabricate or alter research data, results, references, citations, or any other scholarly content in a way that misleads readers.
  • Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical soundness of their work. AI systems may not be named as authors or contributors.
  • Where AI tools played a substantial part in preparing or developing a manuscript, authors are encouraged to say so in an AI Disclosure Statement (see the format below). The editorial team may ask for details about how and to what extent AI was used if this is needed for editorial or ethical review.

2. Guidelines for Peer Reviewers

  • Reviewers must keep every manuscript and related material they receive strictly confidential.
  • Manuscripts, unpublished data, review reports, and other confidential content must not be uploaded to, or shared with, public or third-party generative AI tools.
  • AI must not stand in for the reviewer's own critical evaluation and professional judgment. Reviewers remain answerable for the substance, accuracy, and integrity of their reports.

3. Guidelines for Editors

  • Editors may rely on AI-assisted tools for suitable administrative and editorial support, such as language screening, formatting checks, similarity checks, and other routine tasks.
  • AI must not replace an editor's independent academic judgment or the final editorial decision. Editors must safeguard the confidentiality of submissions, reviewer reports, and unpublished research, and must not enter this material into AI tools lacking adequate confidentiality and data protection.
  • Editors remain fully accountable for their decisions and must ensure that AI use does not introduce unfair bias, breach confidentiality, or weaken the integrity of peer review.

Overarching Principle

Using AI does not shift responsibility away from people. Authors, reviewers, and editors stay accountable for their own contributions, evaluations, and decisions.

Suspected misuse of AI, whether inappropriate, misleading, or unethical, may be looked into under the journal's publication ethics procedures, guided by the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

AI Disclosure Statement Format

Authors should place the statement in the manuscript, for example just before the References:

Declaration of AI Use: In preparing this manuscript, the author(s) used [name and version of AI tool] for [purpose, e.g., language editing or translation]. The author(s) subsequently checked and revised the output and accept full responsibility for the content of this article.

If AI was not substantially used:

Declaration of AI Use: The author(s) confirm that no AI tools were substantially used in preparing this manuscript.

We thank all authors, reviewers, and editors for their cooperation in upholding the integrity of our journal.
