This research aims to uncover the meaning of psychological safety and digital orientation in fostering employee work engagement in the hybrid work era. The dynamic hybrid work environment necessitates a deep understanding of factors influencing employee engagement, particularly psychological safety, which enables employees to feel secure in expressing themselves and participating, and digital orientation, which reflects their ability and comfort in utilizing technology. Em-ploying a qualitative approach involving in-depth interviews with a number of employees working under a hybrid scheme, this study explores how these two concepts interact and contribute to enhanced work engagement. Key findings indicate that high psychological safety, supported by open communication and support from colleagues and superiors, significantly boosts employees’ confidence to contribute and innovate in the hybrid work setting. Furthermore, good digital orientation facilitates efficient collaboration and information access, thereby reducing obstacles that might arise from working from different locations. The combination of both creates a strong foundation for employees to feel connected, motivated, and committed to the organization. In conclusion, management needs to prioritize the cultivation of psychological safety and the development of employees’ digital literacy to optimize work engagement in the hybrid work era.
